what’s the difference between a dirty bus stop and a lobster with breast implants ?

one’s a crusty bus station and one’s a busty crustacean

also, a word of caution about duolingo

i’ve been using it for a while and i love it, especially since i don’t study at all over the summer, so it helps me brush up on my skills and the like. i also use it with a kid i’m tutoring in french and he enjoys using it because it tackles translation and communication and vocabulary and all that fun stuff.

but the only reason the both of us - and other duolingo users - enjoy it that much is because it’s more suited as a complimentary app for if you’re already learning a language in school/with another language program/etc. i’m telling you right now, if you don’t have at least a beginner’s knowledge of concepts in the language you want to learn using duolingo, you’re going to have a really hard time using it.

right off the bat, duolingo’s french program expects you to have a basic knowledge of subjects, verbs and verb conjugations, masculine/feminine words, some basic vocab, and sentence structure with regards to pronouns. if you don’t know any of this beforehand, you will be lost as fuck. it breaks my heart to see that one duolingo post with a shitton of notes and no one’s addressed this, so yeah. important things to know

there’s a back to school masterpost that has duolingo listed as a good app if you want to learn a new language so yeah. reblog this

also if this is your only view of the language you’re learning (if you don’t hang with native speakers at all) you’re going to have a lot of problems using the language irl, like it just doesn’t transfer very well ?
